Taylor Swift’s ‘Granny’ dance makes even real Swifties shiver: ‘Hire someone to teach her how to move’

Even the most avid Swifties think Taylor Swift should focus on singing instead of dancing.

During her latest tour, Swift’s dancing skills were met with criticism, even from some of her biggest fans, after a viral clip from @harryalex98 showed the singer performing at Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh last week.

The 34-year-old Pennsylvania native wore a yellow fringed mini dress paired with white boots as she danced to the song “Fearless.”

Despite trying to convey the feel of a Las Vegas showgirl, Swift’s movements seem stiff and awkward, though she seems to be enjoying herself and not taking it too seriously.

In an attempt to make the fringe of her dress wiggle significantly, Swift’s dance moves seemed a bit amateurish, leading some critics to liken her to a “grandma” and suggest she should take lessons. dance.

One fan commented: “I don’t understand why they don’t hire someone to teach her how to move properly.”

Another wrote, “she’s an excellent musician but dancing isn’t really her thing.”

Others tried to make light of the situation, saying she was cute but her choreography was really bad.

“This is how my 8 year old cousin danced after 2 Dr. Peppers,” one person wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) in response to another X user posting Harry’s original TikTok video on the platform and captioning it: “She is underrated as a dancer .”

Swift has never considered herself a good dancer, although she’s certainly willing to try. Back in February, Swift even had an accident during a performance at the Japan Eras Tour when she almost slipped. The pop icon is performing one of her songs Midnight album and incorporated some dance moves, but she missed her mark and almost fell, worrying fans who caught the incident. Swifties speculate that the strength in her legs saved her from an embarrassing moment.

Last year, when reviewing Taylor Swift’s performance in LA, New York Times dance critic Brian Sebert acknowledged an aspect that was obvious to any observer: dance skills. Swift’s religion is not her strong point.

“Swift is a dance pop superstar who is not known for her dancing,” Seibart writes near the beginning of his piece. “Even many of her admirers will admit that in this respect, she is no Beyoncé, no Britney Spears – no matter how hard she tries, she’s still a bit stiff and awkward.”

Sebert went on to praise Swift’s strengths in other areas, highlighting her stage presence and the “exceptional physicality” she brings to her performances. He noted her ability to “wear a variety of seductive outfits” and her forte of “camera-ready over-the-shoulder poses”.

Swift’s Eras Tour is scheduled to end with her final show on December 8 in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
